Isuzu Motors Limited is a Japanese commercial vehicle and diesel engine manufacturing company headquartered in Tokyo. The company was founded in 1916 and began producing automobiles in 1922 under a tie-up with Wolseley Motors Limited. Isuzu's first car, the Wolseley A-9, was introduced in 1922. Isuzu's first passenger car, the Bellel, was introduced in 1961.
In the 1970s, Isuzu began exporting vehicles to the United States under the brand name Isuzu. The first model sold in the US was the Isuzu Bellett, a small, sporty car. In the 1980s and 1990s, Isuzu expanded its lineup to include a wide range of vehicles, including pickups, SUVs, and commercial trucks.

They have a partnership with General Motors, which began in 1971, the partnership has been developing and manufacturing diesel engines for pick-ups, SUVs and medium-duty trucks.
